Knights from Christ the King of Aurora Council #12829 raised $7,800 to help the Pro-Life office in the Buffalo diocese to acquire two Ultra Sound machines to be used in conjunction with Catholic Health Systems. The Supreme Councils Ulrasound Initiative matched the funds raised by the council. These were the first two in Western New York.

Ultrasound Effectiveness

Cheryl Calire said that "These are the kinds of things that make a difference. The sonograms have really turned things around for us. All too often, I literally have taken somebody by the hand and said, 'Let's go and check this out. Let's see what's going on. It will help you make that decision.' Time and time again, when they see that life and it is undeniable, it is something that definitely pushes things over the edge."

The Supreme Knight's website convincingly attests to the effectiveness of the ultrasound devices in preventing abortions:

After the San Antonio Knights Council donated their first ultrasound machine to San Antonio's Life Choices Clinic, their number of lives-saved jumped from eight in 2012 to 453. In 2013, they saved 703.

Also, the founder of a network of southern California state-licensed medical clinics, Kathleen Eaton, said "Before receiving the ultrasounds, we were saving 42 percent of the babies whose moms were abortion minded. But since the Ultrasound Initiative, it's jumped to 82 percent. And just recently we passed the 6,000 mark – 6,001 babies with names have been saved in five years. That's what the Knights have done."
