The Coats for Kids donated to Mercy Comprehensive Care Center mainly serve the underserved of what was the Perry Projects on Louisiana Street and surrounding areas of Old South Ward This Primary Care Center serves many immigrant and refugees newly arrived in Buffalo. Many come with only the clothes on their backs, and organizations such as Catholic Charities and St. Vincent DePaul assist these people in getting a new start in the USA. Because these are very poor, their medical needs are covered at primary care centers at little or no cost. Additionally, Kathy Bragagnolo, Social Worker at MCCC, assists these families in applying for Social Services help, housing and clothing needs. She also assist patients in finding medical specialists in the area. Kathy also, along the the manager, Jeanne O'Hara provide clothing food and clothing through St. Bridget's Closet. The coats are distributed to those families that are the neediest and are screened by Kathy and her staff.

MCCC assists families from newborn pediatrics to elder care. They also run clinics for Healthy Heart Programs and Stroke Support.
